Up this ladder, on the roof of a neo-gothic building in the heart of Manchester an air raid siren screams into the 1 a.m. lull. Marking the end of the first week of war and the start of the second, a small group of artists, musicians and filmakers refuse to be subdued. The sirens aural qualities and a collective historical understanding produce a momentarily visceral comprehension of what it is 'we' are doing in Iraq.
