Sweeney removed the 'broad' + 'side' and made an 'outcast'. Combining variable signals (noise, sound, music) and announcements related to the site-specific environment (in this case, information about stormwater pollution and water protection in SA via BEECH Environmental Services and international exchanges from internet-radio + narrowcasting projects, queer noise, tranmission faults + censorships) the format moved between news-casting, signal testing, music radio, internet streaming, sound experiments and improvisations, silence and spoken word performance.

This performance installation forms part of an ongoing project that explored the relationship between radio, political action, live performance and sound art. Versions of STEREOPUBLIC have been installed previously at Ngapartji Multimedia Centre (Adelaide, SA), Banff Centre for the Arts (Canada), Electrofringe (Newcastle, NSW) and online as part of Midsumma Gay & Lesbian Festival (Melbourne, VIC).
