Forthcoming
Curious have just produced a limited edition artists’ book, Greenham Common a Curious Residency, which includes writing and images from the artists’ work in and around the cold war nuclear missile base and protest sites at Greenham.
I am stunned by the cold war brutality of the buildings. Even the soft edged bunkers have an insidious presence. They look like army crew cuts, shorn close. In these harsh military spaces I am flooded with the desire to transgress. I infiltrate the huge expanses of concrete and metal in the hangars with the female. An illicit softness.
The residency was curated by Helen Cole and commissioned by Uncommon Land Live Art Residencies for Cultivating Ideas at New Greenham Arts/Corn Exchange, Newbury. Books can be ordered from the Artsadmin shop www.artsadmin.co.uk/shop
In April, the (be)longing film will be screened as part of the East End Film Festival and the Chelsea Theatre SACRED season. In May, Family Hold Back, a solo performance by Helen Paris, tours to the Taiwan Women’s Theatre Festival in Taipei. As part of the festival, Curious will lead a week long performance workshop for female practitioners. Curious are also developing their new project, Autobiology, with support from The Wellcome Trust.
